The MacArthur Harp is named after the late Margaret MacArthur who used an original Harp-Zither in concerts and recordings. This MacArthur Harp is a replica of the Harp-Zither invented by Carl E. Brown and manufactured in the early 1900's by the Harp-O-Chord company.
It is crafted with hardwoods and a spruce top, having 11 melody strings and 3 sets of chord strings.
It is generally played by plucking the melody strings and accompanying yourself with the chord strings. The stock tuning is a 1-1/2 octave diatonic scale starting at G above Middle C, with the chords C, G7, and F, but many alternate tunings may be used.
Also included is a instruction book for the MacArthur Harp written by Margaret MacArthur.
